Apparently Wall Street took everything out of context from Pewdiepie's videos. They watched hundreds of his videos to find things to make him look like a Nazi and anti Semitic. Anonymous
Of course they did. That’s what journalists do. Sometimes, the shit they find is legitimate and the story is completely true, but there are a number of instances when they take minor details and embellish the fuck out of a story that has terrible consequences. It, of course, turns out to be false, but what do readers care? They got their story the first time and almost nobody goes back for updates.
Let’s get this all straight. For years now the Media has been picking
and choosing what they want about Youtubers, most specifically
Youtube star Felix Kjellberg (A.K.A Pewdiepie). They have focused
mostly only on how much money he makes, well who gives a flying fuck,
actors, and hell, even athletes make a shit load too, for the same
damn thing. Entertaining.
Now, the bones of what is going on right now, the backlash from his
‘anti-Semitic’ jokes. Were they shitty and in poor taste? Yes, but
they were also jokes. Everyone has made shitty jokes in their lives,
and learned from them. Felix has apologized a good number of times
for his poor taste in humor. He has also taken the time to point out
a truth of the media, and that is them taking what others have said
out of context. He’s been a good sport about it for years, but enough
is enough. Seeing news headlines like these, about a good man (though
definitely not the first to be dragged through the dirt) is
heartbreaking.
The main issue, and reason for this post is the blatant slander that
passes for news at the Wall Street Journal. Granted, they are not the
first to try to pass of the terrible attempt at humor into something
real, but they are the ones that caused the biggest trouble. They
pushed, and pushed until they made Disney and Youtube take action
against Felix, which in and of itself is not a terrible thing, but
they pushed until Disney cut all ties, and Youtube canceled the much
awaited season two of Scare Pewdiepie. Again, Felix has been a good
sport about the fact that the media is trying to slander his name,
but you can tell by the way he teared up at the end, that this was a
big blow to him, emotionally.
I’m not saying don’t talk about it, mention that he made a shitty
joke, by all means, but can we instead focus on all the good he has
done? In 2012 Felix give away more than $40,000 between donations to
the World Wildlife Fund, and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
In 2013 he raised $446,462 for Charity: Water, personally donating $1
for every 500 views up to $10,000. In 2014 he raised more than
$630,000 for Save the Children. Most recently, in 2015, he, and the
Youtubers of Revelmode, raised $1.3 million for AIDS research.
My point is, we can’t let the WSJ get away with this. Rolfe Winkler,
Jack Nicas, and Ben Fritz should be reprimanded, and preferably fired
for their very personal attack on an innocent man.
I just watched PewDiePie almost cry in his latest video and I can say I almost cried too.
I just think its down right horrible what their doing to him. PewDiePie can be offensive, everyone knows that. I can’t believe they’re trying to demolish him in a life ruining approach.
Can you please tag your pewdiepie content? I've been following you for a while and I don't want to unfollow you but I completely disagree with you on this issue. If you could tag it I would appreciate it. If not, then I honestly wish you the best and keep having an awesome blog Anonymous
I know sometimes he takes his jokes too far. But it’s humour. WHO THE FUCK are you to write an article about these and use these jokes out of context. How much of a craving asshole you are to destroy the reputation of one man who did so much for charities and for his audience ? And Disney you fucking knew that Pewdiepie’s humour wasn’t the sweet and soft humour we can see in your fucking movies or whatever so why right after these articles you drop him? And the worse YOUTUBE: how dare you cancel his show ? After all the bullshit that happen on the site (losing subs, youtube heroes…) how dare you to do that to Felix who tried to highlight the glitches and all the shit ?
I’m so mad. This is not fair. I know the jokes were maybe too much but it wasn’t a problem until these out of context and shitty articles were released.
Whoever wrote them from the bottom of my heart: you are why we can’t trust the news these day. You are the same as the fake news writers. This is not what journalists should write. You are no journalists you are some idiots.
- I’m not going to talk about the past-antisemitic disney. It’s not related even tho it’s a bit hypocritical it’s not related -
So, I’ve watched your ‘My Response’ video. I have to say that when you teared up, my heart broke. I’m sorry that you are being attacked like this and from your videos, we can see how this issue has been going on for quite some time. Years in fact. I don’t know why there are people out there who seems like they’re holding some sort of grudge towards you. Now they pushed it to an extent where your show got cancelled (THIS PISSED ME OFF SO MUCH), the contract got severed, and people labelled you as anti-semantic. I mean, yes, i have to say here that the joke went a bit too far but for the media to take things out of context is downright unfair from the way i see it.
You contribute a lot more than you did any harm. Why is that not in the spotlight? Push charities aside, you saved so many lives out there as PewDiePie ( @pewdie ). You made our days better, you made us laugh, you helped some of us walk through difficult lives and situations. That is what the media needs to shine their spotlight on!
Despite all these bullshit, I just want you to know that there are still many of us bros that stands with you, supporting you. Yes, we made fun of you, your hair, calling you names, calling you the Kazoo kid, sassing you, teasing you and all that but in the end, we still love you. You did so much for us. Now, we will be the one that will held your hands and we will walk with you through this.
p/s: Be careful with your jokes next time buddy. Don’t push the boundaries too far.
Ok, so, basically, Scare Pewdiepie Season 2 is being cancelled because of “Pewdiepie putting antisemitic stuff on some of his videos”. And let me tell you why this is pure bullsh*t…
First off, I acknowledge that asking two poor people from Sri-lanka to hold a sign saying “Death to all Jews” was a little bit too far. HOWEVER, the backlash Felix is getting is absolute horsec*ck!
Secondly, Felix’s humor is, and has always been based on satire and sarcasm. Anyone who doesn’t understand or agree with that type of humor should not have anything to do with Felix’s content.
The mere definition of satire involves the use of something apparently known by too few people: irony. To those ignorants, irony is the use of something, like a political stance, a phrase, an opinion, to actually mean the opposite, often in a comedic way (ex: “No, please, keep talking, you’re not boring me at all…”). When used blatantly, it is often seen as sarcasm.
Satire, however, is a little bit more intricate, in the sense that it involves “acting” like a certain group of people in a ridicule way to mock their opinion or political stance (ex: people imitating the voice of Donald Trump, saying things like “I want to deport Mexicans”, or when you mimic your teacher to make your friends laugh). Everyone does it, and it often involves exaggerating the imitation. When used in a casual way, it usually ends up pretty clearly. But when used in a “professional” way (and by that, I mean, entertainment in a large scale), it keeps going for the whole video. But it is, still, humor, and fake!
I sometimes joke with my friends about Nazis, jokingly doing a Nazi salute, imitating the all too famous “Nein, nein, NEIN!!” from Downfall, or even saying racist stuff in a strong, cliché, German accent (it IS cliché… I live near Germany, the German accent sounds in no way like the one they do in movies). It doesn’t mean I think this stuff! On the contrary, I find it absolutely ridiculous that some people had the same idea, and even more that some still do! And that is exactly what Felix is doing, using satire, just on a more grand scale!
If someone were to come to me and say “Death to all Jews” in a serious manner, I would laugh at its face! And not only because I think it’s ridiculous, but because those kind of people WANT to be taken seriously, WANT people to be afraid of them, which leads me to my last point.
If you try to silence Pewdiepie, the message you’re sending is basically “It’s not okay to joke about this ideology, it’s not okay to ridicule it, it’s a serious matter”. You’re giving those dumb*sses the credibility they lost! You’re saying “They’re still a threat, they are not a laughing matter”. It’s part of a bigger problem nowadays, because it seems like medias are actively trying to bring back racism by putting it sometimes petty actions on front pages, going “look, this is what some people do, fear them!!”. You’re not silencing them! You’re giving them a voice, a platform in which to speak their moronic opinions in a serious manner! And as much as I respect free speech, that should never be the case for such hateful ideologies.
Anyway, that’s all for my rant, that no-one will ever see or read fully…
@pewdie, I support you fully, even though I don’t agree with you all the time, or laugh at all your jokes. You went a bit far, you apologized, the video was taken down, it should have been the end of it. But medias are leeches, and humorless imbeciles are everywhere.
And to all the idiots still thinking Felix deserves this, go eat cabbage (I hate cabbage).
“So, Wall Street Journal, a well known, respected news outlet, posted that I, during the past 6 months, have made 9 videos that have anti-semitic messaging in it […] so basically, they went to the biggest brands that I work with: Disney and YouTube, and they pushed them in the corner and said ‘hey, what do you think about this? Look at this, this is bad!’ Obviously cornering them, forcing them to sever their ties with me…” [x]
Ngl, I almost cried with Pewdiepie’s latest video.. specially at the end. He’s such a strong person, getting all this hate from the media but still able to wear a smile on his face and make videos for us. Most of us would’ve broken down a long time ago if we were in his place. We’re all here for you Pewds, don’t worry about it
Right, I am a media student and I need to say I have never ever been so ashamed of the media.
The media relies these days on clicks (reads) from viewers online since the internet is the main place people gather information so they clickbate there way into getting peoples attention (which is wrong) due to the fact the news should not be biest and should tell the truth from different points of views but instead we had “PEWDIEPIE LOVES HITLER” etc you get what I mean.
Main things
Disney no longer is in a relationship with pewdiepie-
This is understandable since pewdiepie (with these jokes) are more aimed towards an adult audience because a younger audience may not be able to understand that its a bad thing. Cool we get it BUT…. in 2014 disney made this deal with pewdiepie .. knowing he wasnt aimed towards any audience inparticular and swore alot in his gaming videos with adult humor … disney knew this but still made a relationship with pewdiepie so in reality disney knew he wasnt child friendly from the start.
Youtube red series scare pewdiepie season 2 cancelled-
Now heres where things get interesting… youtube had no reason to cancel this show as there is no swearing in the first series I can imagine there is non in the second but not only that.. South park… Family guy make jokes all the time about offensive humor and receive awards but pewdiepie gets all of this? This makes me question alot because youtube could of clearly made an age rating on the show and since it was nearly done I cant actually think of a reason that youtube cancelled it at all. I want an explanation as to why they did due to the fact the reason is missing.
The youtube ad platform - this is only for the videos that are deemed as basically PG or with some strong language ….. and things like that. With this I understand why youtube may have done this but at the same time I do not due to the fact they could of chosen the suitable videos themselves to be chosen for the ad platform instead of kicking him out.
After all of this… Disney kind of have a good explanation BUT DON’T due to knowing that pewdiepie all along wasnt aimed towards any audience. He swore in videos and made adult humor since they made the relationship. Youtube had no reason to cancel scare pewdiepie and did it to aboard the kill pewdiepie express… which is not right. the media should be ashamed of attempting to make this man look bad when in all reality he offended maybe a bunch of people in the whole worlds population and family guy and other tv shows slide past it like it was nothing. The media is to blame for this.. taking the mans words out of context and planting horrible images of the comedian in the eyes of the public.
